You needn't worry about upgrading wxPython on Debian. The developers on
Debian are just super cautious. As I understand it, you can run Debian
Testing with few bugs. Anyway, we use Debian in our system critical
servers and I update it from time to time to the latest wxPython. I think
I'm a couple releases behind, but that's only because I test my programs
on a client first and I haven't needed any of the new features on the
server yet.

The likelihood of a wxPython upgrade making your system unstable is next
to null. You can uninstall it even if it does.
