I just installed it with apt-get. I had added some extra repositories to 
my sources.list at that point, though - as per these instructions...

...so I'm not quite sure where the wxPython package actually came from. 
It might even have been installed from the Debian repositories, for all 
I know.

I no longer have the Xandros OS installed, so I can't check what kind of 
sources.list I was originally using with it. Instead, I'm now running 
Kubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" - complete with Compiz Fusion. It seems to 
work fine on the EeePC 701 4G [1], and gives easier access to more 
recent versions of packaged/precompiled software than Xandros.
