I don't want to start an endless discussion, but... since "being small" is
not in your requirements list, what's wrong with Emacs+Pymacs? Pymacs
development seems to have stopped a while ago, but I found it's still
usable. (It probably needs some updates - I found that not everything works
as expected, and I would really like to see its development continue...)
