We all have different needs and preferences.

now THAT's a lot of work!!

I guess the issue is social, not technical -- we don't want to allow 
wxversion.select to work for minor revisions, because we think it might 
cause problems if people use that feature.

Personally, I think we should give people rope, and let them hang 
themselves if they want -- but I guess if I really thought that I'd be 
writing C!

well yes, but wxversion makes it easier to make it testing, rather than 
upgrading. I agree with JMF, I'd rather edit a line at the top of my 
script than mess around with changing *.pth files, re-naming dirs, or 
setting up virtual machines.
