In addition to what others have said, make sure you either put /opt/ 
wx/2.8/bin at the front of your path, or run the setup command like:  
"/opt/python2.5/bin/python setup.py install WX_CONFIG=/opt/wx/2.8/bin/ 
wx-config".

Otherwise, if your 2.6 wx-config is on the path, it will build  
wxPython against that version instead.
