Werner,

Yes, the problem happens even running from source in SPE... I tried to use
many recent versions (from november to current) of both
matplotlib and wxpython. And it happens with Python 2.4 and 2.5.

It this case I don't understand why you get the error.  Are you
including the .dll with your application?
