Thanks -- I think we've confirmed that it works fine on Intel Macs, but 
I've yet to see a report from anyone else with a PPC mac -- has the 
transition happened that fast???

Wow! that's pretty old -- yes it does seem to work fine on older 
versions -- I've been using code like this for years.

Well, thanks for trying -- we may have found a different bug then --- 
arrgg! What version of Python were you trying to install 2.8.7.1 with?
