Yes, matchbox runs without problems. Xeyes, Xfontsel etc. run smoothly. 
So I doubt, that it has something to do with XOpenDisplay. My guess is, 
it has something to do with argument processing but do not know how to 
find out. It is really impossible to get gdb run on the embedded 
platform because of the limited resources.

I am a little bit desperated :-(
