wxMenu and custom bitmap bug in check items after submenues

Hello,

I have a problem with wxWidgets 2.8.6 under Windows: I build a menu containing check items, dividers and some submenues containing check items. The check items have custom bitmaps, which I set set with SetBitmaps(), in order to simulate 3 states (checked, unchecked and mixed states in multi selections). The menu is a context menu that gets constructed every time the menu is opened.
Now to my problem: the first time I open the menu, everything looks fine, but when I open it a second or third time, every check item immediately following a submenu entry does not display my custom bitmaps, but the default bitmap. Is this a known issue? Is it fixed in a newer version? Is there a workaround or hotfix for this problem?
