Nothing has changed, at least not intentionally.  I have noticed that 
sometimes messages will be left in the outgoing queue for more time than 
expected, usually with a status that indicates that the receiving host 
is refusing connection, or deferring transfer,  delivery temporarily 
suspended, etc.  So my guess is simply that the earlier messages you 
received later were just stuck in the outgoing queue for one reason or 
another and were not tried again until the later messages were sent.
