I assume I have to compile the trunk version in the same way I compiled the
2.8 ?

What about using the Connect method ?

 This is not really a wxWidgets-specific term, trunk refers to the current
development version. To get it you need to check out the svn trunk version,
see the instructions about using svn on the web site.
