Please see the wx-dev mailing list archives for a discussion I started  
(I had the same question), and check sourceforge for the patch I  
posted. You can link statically to both your EXE and DLL, although  
with a few caveats, using the patch I submitted (although that patch  
will require changes based on feedback from Vadim Zeitlin and David  
Elliott).
