wxWidgets right choice for multi-platform?

Hi,

I'm looking for a graphical framework running without major problems on

- several recent linux flavors,
- Windows from 2000 to Vista,
- MacOS X,
- Solaris (up from version 9).

As programming language I'd prefer python. Main purpose of the software will
be handling of waveform data (maybe I need to use OpenGL for display
acceleration).

Would you recomment using wxWidgets? Do you have any hints for online
ressources to consider?
