SetSelection on wxTextCtrl is intermittent

Oh, in that case, I won't worry about trying the downgrade ... unless
you think that a backtrace from 2.8 would be of any assistance.

For what it's worth (probably very little), I have tried gtk+ 2.12.6 and
the problem occurs there as well.
