That is odd - users of my apps on Vista aren't reporting this and I 
didn't see it in my limited tests. I used VC++ 6; what compiler did you 
use? Sometimes problems are compiler-related, in particular MinGW/Cygwin 
very occasionally showing problems that don't appear with VC++.

Can you reproduce it in e.g. samples/dialogs? Maybe try 2.8.6 so we know 
we're talking about the latest version of wxWidgets.

There is no 'Vista build' in wxWidgets in the same way there is no 
XP-specific or NT-specific build. It's just 32-bit (or 64-bit) Windows.
