MDI windows not drawing

I'm using wxWidgets 2.8.4 on Mac and Windows.

I'm following the "docvwmdi" example. The example itself runs fine on  
both mac and windows.

My code I'm making works on Mac but on Windows, the parent window  
frame is an empty hole. Not a blank background like it should be, you  
see right through it to the Visual Studio interface in the  
background. Then if you resize the window, (making it bigger) then  
window frame is left there again and again and again. Also, child  
windows are not drawn at all.

Does anyone have any ideas why this MDI parent window frame is not  
behaving correctly?
