Need Help on WxWidget for Fedora.

Hi,

            I tried to compile wxWidget-2.8.4 on Fedora Core 6 machine.
I am getting compile time error saying wxWindows required. Can anybody
please help me? Also I would like to know how wxWidget works? Does it
uses x-11/GTK+/DFB one at a time for Linux?
