capturing 'Ctrl' button press wxStyledTextCtrl?

Does anyone know how I let my application know when the Ctrl button and 
another character have been pressed using the wxStyledTextCtrl class? 
Lots of what I want to do seems possible with a EVT_STC_KEY event but 
this is not supported on windows according the the docs I've looked at. 
I also checked myself and it doesn't seem to be sent any events. Any 
help would be much appreciated. Cheers,
