Event table confusions..... was "confusion over members..."

I have a class wxLoopStation derived from wxMDIChildFrame which has some 
member variable called button. When a user hits a "button" it calls an 
event handler that is a member function of *another* class, my main 
frame class. If I try to call any of wxLoopStation's methods in that 
event handler I get a crash, can I not do this? This is all a little 
confusing, I hope someone can make out what I'm trying to say, otherwise 
I will try to put together a little example of what's happening.
