Right-to-left (RTL) - what version, and how?

I found this exciting blog post from Rob Roebling:

It seems as if RTL support is already in some development release of wx, but
the blog post doesn't say which.  Is it in 2.7.x?  2.8.0 RC1?  RC3?  If so,
i would love to test it out before 2.8.0 final.

I tried to download 2.8.0 RC3 myself to check, but the posted link (3 days
ago) to http://ftp.wxwidgets.org/pub/2.8.0-rc3 seems to be broken now.

Also not mentioned is How the RTL support works.  Does it turn on
automatically when an RTL language is selected by Locale?  Or is there some
API method to call to enable RTL?
