When I reviewed the libraries for a Jabber project a couple years ago,
Iksemel worked best for me.  If it can help, my code is still available
at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ruthere and the
JabberProtocol/IksemelWrapper classes may be helpful in seeing the
Iksemel API.
