[wx-discuss] new project hosting provider... me?

Hi Robin,

I would personally be very glad to see this happen and put some cash
towards the effort. I was struck by how easily and how often they
refactor things on the WebKit project, and part of the reason for
that is that SVN makes it much easier to do things like move files
around while keeping SVN history. If I could have done that (without
involving dotsrc.org) for the wxMac listctrl, I would have renamed
src/generic/listctrl.cpp to listctrlg.cpp to be consistent with the
rest of the tree. I'd also have moved old scripts and such in distrib
into an "old_files" folder or similar so as not to confuse people as
to what is being used currently and what is old.

That's not to mention nice tools such as being able to set a file's
line endings (for, e.g., MSVS projects) without making it binary, and
of course not having to worry about adding binary files (e.g. images)
and forgetting to specify the -kb tag. Nor do you get a hard-to-read
diff when you forget -bu2.... Especially for SoC branches and the
like, I think SVN would save people a lot of pain as their designs
and plans are continually refactored.

So count me in on this. :-)

Thanks,

Kevin
