 There almost surely will be 2.8.5 (and maybe more) but there won't be,
AFAIK, any subsequent 2.10 releases.

 Yes but I hope we're not very far from 2.9.0.

 Yes.

 There will almost definitely be significant changes in subsequent 2.9.x
releases. All odd-numbered releases are less stable (API-wise, not meaning
stability in the sense of crashing) but this one will be particularly
volatile due to the sheer number of UTF-8 related changes.
