Hi Julian,

IMHO, the biggest single stumbling block for new users considering
wxWidgets is the lack of ready-to-run binary demo that can be
downloaded. In Summer of 2004, I spent two weeks full time comparing Qt to
wxWidgets. Qt had a nice demo that could be downloaded and ran
immediately. On the other hand, consider what someone has to do to
evaluate wxWidgets:

- Download it

- Try to build it. Wish that prospect a lot of luck and stamina,
especially if he happens to be one of the majority of Visual Studio users
who have stopped using version 6.0 -- the prospect will now have to convert
the project files

- Add the 'wxwin' environment variable

If the prospect has made it so far, he/she still has to compile every
single demo and run it. Is this for real?!

I know, in the end I selected wxWidgets and I'm happy with it overall, but
at the time this was mainly a rejection of Qt as opposed to a "wow" factor
for wxWidgets.

To summarize: a RAD would be great, but a compiled, SINGLE demo (per
platform) that can downloaded and ran immediately will get more wxWidgets
users and will take a lot less time to do than a RAD.

Just my two dineros worth...

                                                              Hisham.
