Yes, I'd suggest doing the svn copy sooner rather than later.

I've just committed some additional behavior to src/cocoa/slider.mm in  
the 2.8 branch revision 48590 so doing the copy from 2.8 branch right  
now is going to get at least one newer file than your current spin.
