Solaris and X11 support?

I am running into problems porting my wxWidgets 2.6.3 application from 
Windows to Solaris 10 (GNU g++ 3.4.3, GNU Make 3.81, X11 6.8.0?).  I can 
build some of the wxWidgets samples, but see segmentation faults when I 
try to run them.  Earlier I tried to build my application with wxWidgets 
2.8.0, but encountered similar problems.

I noticed the README-X11.txt paragraph that reads:

    wxWidgets/X11 doesn't come with any guarantee whatsoever.  It might
    crash your hard disk or destroy your monitor.  It doesn't claim to
    be suitable for any special or general purpose.


(The README-MAC.txt and README-MOTIF.txt files have similar statements.)

I have searched the www.wxwidgets.org site for information.  Are there 
any gotchas or other words of wisdom for people in the Solaris/X11 world?
