Initial Comment:
As part of a project to  migrate the GUI of GRASS GIS <http://grass.itc.it>  to wxPython, we  are testing plot.py for one of the key analysis modules—creating profiles of  raster maps and images. It looks like it will be excellent for this task.  

Along the way, we’ve discovered that at least on some platforms,  plot.py will not work with either the older numeric or numarray; it needs  numpy to launch and function without error. This is not a big issue, since  numpy has replaced the other two modules and is widely available. But I wanted  to report this so that you could update the docs and dependency requirement  tests accordingly. Happy to fill you in on more details if you need  them.

Hi Robin,

We're using wxPython 2.8.x as a dependency for the new GRASS GUI in
development. I installed numpy from the start and have had no problem (Mac
OSX - I started with 2.8.0 and am now using 2.8.3). I'm pretty sure that
GUI development team member that reported this is using 2.8.1 under Debian.
I don't remember the error. He tried numeric, numarray, and numpy
systematically and could only get it to work without an error using numpy.
I've emailed him for more details and will report back.
