Initial Comment:
Since version 2.8.3 wxWidgets programs crash after about 1 to 5 seconds when an assertion dialog is opened. 

The same happens when using wxWidgets 2.8.4 but doesn't happen with 2.8.0.

wxWidgets build options: --disable-shared --with-mac --disable-optimize --enable-debug --enable-unicode (also tested with --enable-shared and --disable-unicode)

Computer system: iMac G5, Mac OS X 10.4.9
