Summary: 2.8.4.2 breaks build in MacPorts

Initial Comment:
In MacPorts, wxWidgets is a strict dependency of wxPython, always built on its own. The latest release of wxWidgets, 2.8.4, does not have all necessary things to build wxPython 2.8.4.2. Specifically, wxBORDER_THEME does not exist, even in 2.8.5-rc1.

Well,
that won't do, as there are other ports depending on wxWidgets so that has
to be its own package anyway. The distribution could be done the way
suggested here, but then all projects everywhere should do the same, and
there should be no separate wxWidgets package at all. There wouldn't be any
problem here provided that those two are in sync, which is not the case at
the moment. Packages in sync is also the wish expressed by others on wx-dev
list.

You should do what most other projects do and use the wxPython tarball to
build both sets of packages.
