The reason we did this was because of SF. We found it would randomly  
not load an image here and there - i.e. thanks to problems with their  
load-balancer, sometimes attempts to load one of the images would  
return an erroneous error code and not download, even though the file  
was there. We could switch it, although IMHO what we have now is  
working fine, and switching back would be taking a risk.
